A new report is today suggesting that a brand new version of the Mac Pro would be released later this year and that, according to the source of the information, it would be worth waiting for. The Mac Pro, which hasn’t been updated for a long time, will apparently be on the receiving end of a complete redesign and will be ‘something really different’, according to Douglas Brooks, Apple Project Manager for the Mac Pro, who was speaking to Andrew Baird, a MacRumors reader.
While no details are offered on the new device, power-users will no doubt be happy to hear about the imminent update for a device that has not received any new releases since July of 2010. The new version will likely incorporate the latest Intel processor architecture, codenamed Haswell, but there are no other details on how Apple will be updating the Mac Pro in the coming months.
