A new report is suggesting that Apple will be launching a brand new home management system to allow iOS users to control various household devices using their Apple device. According to the report from the Financial Times, the company is going to be releasing a new system that will integrate tightly with smart devices in the home, such as networked lightbulbs, smoke detectors, security monitoring systems and thermostats, similar to the innovative Nest ‘smart’ thermostat pictured above.
According to the report, Apple will be encouraging smart device manufacturers to create devices that are labelled with a ‘Made for iPhone’ type branding. The new branding and system will focus on the secure, private nature of the platform which will allow networked devices to be securely and remotely controlled.
There is also no word on whether the new system could also rely on existing Bluetooth connectivity, or even NFC which has been rumored to be included in the next iPhone, but it is possible that the new platform could be revealed at WWDC next month.
