A new patent was revealed today which pointed towards Apple including solar panels inside flexible touchscreen displays. The patent, uncovered by AppleInsider, shows a touchscreen panel mounted on top of solar cells. It is designed to be implemented in future mobile devices although it is currently unclear what devices could potentially utilize the technology.
Solar panels generally give a relatively low power output in terms of size, particularly for mounting on a mobile device. However, in the context of a device like the long rumored iWatch, it could be used to top up the battery life of the device in order to lengthen the time intervals between charging.
