A new report is suggesting that the resolution of the screen on the iPhone 6 will apparently be 1704 pixels tall by 960 pixels wide, a significant increase over the current 1136 x 640 pixels adopted by the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S. The report comes from 9to5Mac who say that sources familiar with the next generation iPhone model have indicated that Apple could scale the iPhone 6 display up to three times that of the original iPhone models, whilst retaining the 16:9 aspect ratio.
According to the report, the new resolution would be in excess of 416 pixels per inch on a 4.7 inch display, the rumored size of Apple’s next generation device. This would enable Apple to ship a display that is both larger and sharper than the current model, although developers would obviously have to adapt their apps in order to take advantage of the new display.
The report does, however, include a caveat that this might not be the resolution chosen for the next iPhone model.
