iOS 7 iPhone 5S
A new report is suggesting that Apple will be significantly expanding the services that it offers in retail stores to include replacements of certain components of iPhone devices. According to 9to5Mac, Apple will be giving stores the capability to replace the displays on iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C devices in the near future, meaning that users looking for replacements will be able to get their own device fixed, rather than accepting a refurbished unit as a replacement.

Apparently, a new glass display for either the 5S or the 5C will cost walk-in customers approximately $149. However, this cost is reduced for those who have purchased AppleCare+ and will only cost $79 for those people. Interestingly the report also suggests that other minor components such as power buttons, volume buttons, the speaker and perhaps even the Home button.

It is worth noting, however, that any repairs that are due to failing components will be free of charge if a device is under warranty. However, if a device is not under warranty or the repair is due to consumer fault, then a cost will be applied.

There is no word on when the program will be fully rolled out, although it is said to be in the near future.
