A new report has published images of an iPad 5 screen, showing the novel design of the upcoming device in great detail. The images were posted by Macfixit Australia who have apparently gotten hold of the glass screen component for the iPad 5 which shows significantly thinner side bezels which reflect the rumored slimmer design for the new iPad (via MacRumors). While the display area for the new iPad is identical to existing versions, the fifth generation device has been rumored to take design hints from the iPad mini, which the new pictures appear to confirm.
Aside from this, the new screen appears to have two connectors rather than one although it is unclear why this would be the case. The screen is also reportedly of ITO (Indium tin oxide) composition, similar to the iPad mini. These aren’t the first images of the screen of the new device but do give a good idea of how much the bezel thickness has changed.
The new iPad is expected to be released this Fall, and has been rumored to have a new case design to look much more like the iPad mini, as well as upgraded processor and camera. There is no firm word on when the device would be released, but recent rumors have pointed towards an September launch.
