Apple has reportedly increased production of the new iPad mini 2 with Retina Display in time for the holiday season, according to a new article from Digitimes. Claiming knowledge of Apple’s production line through Taiwan based supply chain sources, it is suggested that supplier orders for assembly of the iPad mini 2 have been increased in November to around four million units to ensure that there are adequate supplies for the high demand in the holiday season.
The publication also states that Apple’s orders to manufacturers for the iPad mini 2 have already surpassed those of the first generation device, despite it being on sale for only a fraction of the time.
The iPad mini 2 is showing reasonable availability at the Apple online stores with shipping estimates of around 5-10 days, meaning that shoppers who order now should be guaranteed to get a device in time for Christmas. In addition, a number of third party retailers have received limited supplies of the device and will be offering discounts for Black Friday.
