A new report is suggesting that the sensor for the iPhone 5S will be in the region of a massive 12 megapixels, as Apple seeks to improve the imaging system on its latest iPhone. According to Vietnamese site Tinhte.vn, the new 12 megapixel camera in the iPhone 5S will be a significant improvement over the 8 megapixel sensor that is found in the iPhone 5, and will also offer improved shooting over in low-light conditions. The report also suggests that Apple will be bringing HDR video to the iPhone 5S.
The source of the information is a person who works with ‘Wonderful Saigon Electrics’ a company that apparently produces components for the iPhone, although there is no information on the veracity of the claim. However, it is consistent with previous rumors that have suggested that the iPhone 5S would receive a significant camera upgrade over the iPhone 5, similarly as the iPhone 4S received over the iPhone 4.
