A new report is suggesting that Apple will be releasing a dramatic update to the MacBook Air in 2013 in the form of a Retina Display model that could be released later this year. The report comes from EMS One (via Macotakara) and says that Apple is starting to look for suppliers for the new MacBook Air that would incorporate a Retina Display. The original report (in Japanese) also suggests that the new version would be released in both the 11 inch and 13 inch screen sizes offered in the MacBook Air line.
The news comes following a small price reduction on the MacBook Air by Apple which was announced last week alongside performance upgrades for the Retina Display MacBook Pro. The original Retina Display MacBook Pro was launched in June 2012 , and since then many users had been looking to Apple to make Retina Display available in the MacBook Air. However, the power and processor requirements of a Retina Display screen in the super thin Air had been seen by many to be a significant obstacle to overcome.
