A new report is suggesting that Apple will only be releasing one variant of the next generation model of iPhone, termed the iPhone 6, this Fall and that it will have a larger display (4.7 inches diagonally) than the current model. The report comes from Reuters who apparently have some information from supply chains that say that only a 4.7 inch model of the iPhone 6 will be released, despite Apple having prepared a 5.5 model which is also ready for production.
Unfortunately, the report says that production of a 5.5 inch model is somewhat problematic as issues with ‘in-cell production technology’ for the 5.5 inch screen. The report says that the 5.5 model could start to be produced several months after the 4.7 inch version with a possible switch to ‘film sensor’ instead of ‘in-cell technology’.
The new iPhone 6 is slated to launch this fall, and the mass production of the device will start in May.
