A new report is suggesting that Apple is preparing to launch a MacBook Air model with a Retina Display, which would represent a combination that users have wished for ever since the Retina Display was launched with the first MacBook Pro models. The report comes from the omniscient Digitimes who have garnered the information from sources within the Apple supply chain. The launch will apparently take place in the second half of the year.
It’s not clear if this current report is related to another recent rumor which has claimed that Apple is working on a new model of MacBook which is significantly thinner and would ship with a 12 inch Retina Display. However, it’s unclear how Apple would seek to differentiate the new model from the Retina MacBook Pro, particularly given the impressive battery life of the current model, an option that Apple would be reluctant to compromise on in the new Air model.
